About Kayenta
Kayenta is a part of the Navajo County, Arizona, USA, located at 36°42'51"N, 110°15'37"W. Kayenta Chapter is a political division of the Navajo County, similar to a county within the state and it covers also a small part in Utah besides Arizona. Kayenta Township is managed by a town board including five elected members who hire the township manager.
Kayenta is located 20 miles south from the Monument Valley, which is the main attraction of the area and is visited by many tourists every year. Those visitors may choose from the generous offer of hotels and motels in Kayenta while spending their holidays in the valley.
According to a study in 2000, Kayenta had a population of 4,922 people, including 1,245 households, and 1,035 families. The population density was 371.7 people per square mile (143.5/kmē) corresponding to a racial makeup of 92.7% Native American, 6.44% White, 0.20% Black or African American, 0.12% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.16% from other races, and 1.32% from two or more races.
