What can I expect in the home I book?McCarthys Irish Cottages chooses our homes with care, to ensure you holiday in complete comfort. They are all fully equipped with bed linen, kitchen utensils and cutlery. Most of our homes provide towels as well. Most of the homes do have television, some have videos and DVD players, this is not a guarantee so if it is essential you have these items please ensure you are booking a home that does have them available. Internet and phone facilities are not in all of the homes. If you do require a cot and/or high chair please advise us as this occassionaly requires some extra organisation. Is the quoted tariff per house or person? The tariffs quoted are for the entire home per week. With some of the homes if extra guests are staying that exceed the normal number of guests, an extra surcharge may apply. If an extra bed is required to be organised, please expect a surcharge on the weekly booking. If a cot is required, this may sometimes incur an extra charge as well if the home owner does not normally have one available. Are there extra heating/electricity charges? The majority of our homes charge electricity based on the meter reading difference from arrival to departure. Many of the homes have oil fired central heating and some may ask for surcharges on this - especially in the winter. Some of our homes also incude the heating and electricity costs in the weekly tariff, hence no additional costs for you. Please check with McCarthys Irish Cottages staff regarding the home that you will be booking. How do I book and when should I book?Simply choose a home or two that interests you and satisifes your requirements. Contact us with the dates of your holiday and we will respond to you within 24 hours. Many of our homes are booked up to 18 months in advance especially those in unique locations. Don't make the mistake of thinking a last minute booking will get you a good deal. This rarely happens in the self catering Industry and you may be dissapointed! What is the minimum and maximum time of staying? Most home owners are very flexible regarding your needs on your holiday. However, the golden rules for the peak season are; bookings are taken from Saturday - Saturday, check in is after 3pm and check out is before 10am. Contact our reservations for any special requirements and we will do our very best to cater for your needs, we do want you to make the most of your time away! Do I need to pay a security deposit? Most of our homes require a security deposit to be paid upon arrival to the supervisor. This is fully refunded upon your departure providing you have left the home clean and undamaged. This is only a safeguard to prevent the home owner from having to pay for any unforseen damages that may have occurred during your stay. Some of our homes do not require this, but please be prepared upon your arrival to assist with the home owners policy to protect their valuable assets. Can we bring our favourite pet along??We know how so many people love to share their holiday with their pets so we have endeavoured to provide you with as many homes as possible to choose from that will accept animals. There may be certain conditions regarding extra security deposits etc, especially if you are bringing your favourite Saint Bernard with you! Please check with our reservations staff regarding your needs. How do I cancel my booking? To confirm your booking at one of our homes, a 15% non refundable deposit is required. Final payment is required 8 weeks prior to your arrival. Should you cancel your reservation within these 8 weeks, we will refund your 85% balance - minus a 25 Euro administration charge - providing the home owner is able to obtain a booking for the dates you previously paid for. We understand that situations often beyond your control arise, and McCarthys Irish Cottages makes every effort to find another guest to occupy the home on the dates you have paid for. How do I check in to my holiday home?Once you have decided to book a home with McCarthys Irish Cottages, we will provide you with a Booking Form to complete which gives us your details to pass onto the home owner and their supervisor. After final payment has been received, 8 weeks prior to your arrival, directions as well as contact details of the supervisor will be given to you. It is recommended you phone ahead a day or two beforehand to provide the supervisor with your arrival times so they can arrange to meet you and provide you with an expedited check in.
